The trickle of bored students from various classrooms into the rundown hallway full of stained lockers painted iron gray belied the schools reputation as a haven of the best and brightest minds of the coming generation. Kirke was a magnet school, with special programs intended to accelerate the education of the most gifted children in its home city. Funding, unfortunately, was short all over, and while the textbooks were new and the teachers well compensated, the school was located in a dilapidated and crime-ridden part of town.Visible

The candle on my nightstand grows weary and worn wax pooled at the base remnants of better times together.
The wick, charred, finally wavers flickering as the fan overhead click-click-clicks its cadence counting out the time remaining to us.
At last the hollow stump whispers each of my names, and tastes air no more. A memory now of warmth and light once comforting.
I sit alone for a time in the dark as if in mourning. Deciding if I dare to retrieve another candle from the drawer and burn its


Dream EaterMemories fade into emptiness. I float along the planes of consciousness, searching for me next meal. I spy a tasty looking dream of going to Disney World. I enter into his mind, eating his memories, tasting the delicious rides and shows, and drinking thirst-quenching mascots. I could eat all of his memories; indeed, all of his consciousness, and he would just be an empty shell. I have done this before, but I tend to avoid it. Eating one flavor for so long just tends to get boring; I prefer tasting all the different flavors out there.
